Be Warned! Salesman will tell you a free alarm is yours. All you have to do is commit to an agreement "advertising" NorthStar with a small sign in the front of your house for up to 60 months. The salesperson didn't tell us that along with "free Alarm" comes a 5 yr contract. That part of the agreement was not mentioned. You are locked in and only have 3 days to cancel your service. The thing is you have to mail in the request to cancel, and I doubt it will get there in time. I faxed my request about a week into having their alarm and service. I stated that I was not told by the salesperson of a 5yr commitment and the alarm is malfunctioning. I just received, on Friday, a letter politely denying my request for cancellation,on the basis that I signed their 5yr contract, and am now bound to that contract no matter what.
I give this company an "F" grade, on their sales practices. I called the salesman directly and he said he really didn't remember who I was. He told me he would of never sold us the system and service if he knew we were moving within the year,(which we did mention to him).
I'll give NorthStar a D- on their customer service. Some employee's have been polite, but when I request to talk to supervisors, I am transferred to voice mail, and have yet to be called back by anyone who claims to be a supervisor. I have called at least 10 times in the past two plus weeks. Some employees have been downright rude. I was even told by one customer service agent that their company was not responsible for what their salesman told us.
