I also got a call from HCA and they told me everything I wanted to hear, to good to be true. I have some rental properties which are upside down and the rent doesn't cover the payment, but Dan Clark said they can work with all of the lenders, I was preapproved and my payments would drop and the balance of the loan would also drop on almost all of the properties. It would cost me about $10,000 to do all the properties, of which I made a partial payment. I then got to thinking that I should probably do a little more investigating than I had already done. You know what they say, "if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is to good to be true." For the tune of about $400 I hired a private investigator to look in on them. It was the best money I spent, I found out that it was a very shady operation and the PI said I should be very careful about working with them. I went to my bank and they got my money back, then I started receiving calls from HCA. I told them that I will gladly pay them if they produce what they say they can, I will put the money into an escrow account and when they get a loan modified, I will release the money for that modification. They wouldn't hear of it and said if I didn't pay them they would drop my case. Needless to say, they dropped my case but I still have my money, less the $400 for the PI.
