I rented a car from budget through NU car rental. The budget representative in Rome Italy would not accept my reservation and double charged me collision damage waver insurance. I have contacted both parties and neither side is any help. They think this a normal way of doing business. Targa rent is the rep in Rome. They charged me an additional $60 for insurance that was already covered in the contract. Budget says they cannot control what goes on in Italy but has no problem taking their cut.I believe this is scam that has been going on for a while. I get baited with a good deal and then get switched to an outrageous policy in Rome.
The only alternative to renting a car in Rome is to accept terrible rates on the rental car company's website and figure any online quote is unreliable.
