We have had brinks monitored system for 5 yrs now. We were told that after 2-3 yrs we own the system. I recently looked into having another company monitor our system for a much lower cost. To my surprise, the Brinks system is proprietary and cannot be used by other companies. They don't use any of the standard brand systems that are easily converted and monitored by another company. In order words, unless brinks is the monitoring company it is useless. I will have to purchase a new alarm system and 3 new pads to go with another company. Now I am really determined to get rid of it. I can't stand deceptive practices.
