This company was negligent and I question their ability to maintain a safe car rental agency. We rented a car from them that had a "shimmy" once we left their warehouse. The condition got worse as we drove and was pulling very hard to the left. We called them and explained what the car was doing and were told not to worry, the car was fine and that since we had called we would not be held liable. The tire blew out on a deserted stretch of US 1 on our way to Key West - thank goodness it was not on the interstate. We called again and was told that the previous renter had reported a shimmy, but that the renter said it wasn't bad so the tire was our responsibility and couldn't have been related to the "shimmy". One look at the tire and it was evident that there was a defect in the tire, not a road hazard. We were told that they would not reimburse us for replacing the tire and would not come and get the car to switch it out. We asked to speak with the manager, which took 3 days to happen - most of our vacation. We finally received a voice mail that told us that we would have to have the tire replaced, since we were concerned that driving 5 hours on a donut was unsafe, but that we could have a used tire put on the car if we wanted. The tire company that changed the tire reported to us that the tire had blown because of a defect - not a road hazard.
All of this has really left me wondering how this company has managed not to have serious incidents in its history - if they were this unconcerned over the tire, how much safety priority is given to other matters with their cars?
In addition, the website that we used to book this rental car displayed a BBB Accredited Business logo, which apparently is completely false.
I will be filing complaints anywhere that I can regarding this matter, and if the star rating system would allow less than one star, I would select it.
