Feeling ripped off
|
Where do I start...at the beginning. I let myself be pressured into leasing a 2013 Hyundai Sante Fe GLS, late on a Saturday evening in order to help the young salesman make a ' quota'...I now know that is a common ploy.
I was told that the 2014 models were not out, which they were; I was told I would not have to pay a down payment, when we got to the business office that changed...I paid $1500. By the time we left, I would have signed anything. We were in the business office for HOURS.
I was NOT made aware that there was a disposal fee to be paid ...I did find that statement in the closing docs in very tiny print on the back of the contract after I received the demand letter to pay it a month after turning the car in. Again, no one at the dealership mentioned it at that time either. All this sounds like a slam on the dealership...and it is and on one that is supposedly the highest rated Hyundai dealership in the area.
The car was returned to Hyundai in mint condition (no animals, children or smokers in the car ever) and with 2200+ miles not used. If that had gone the other way, then I would have had to pay $440.
When I visited the dealership and then called Hyundai Finance, I was told that ALL dealers do the same thing, but in my estimation that does not make it right. It feels like a rip-off and I will not be leasing again or recommend Hyundai or Hyundai finance to anyone in the future.
